Karl gave little credence to these fabled threats. He had opened many tombs said to be cursed and none had ever proven to be true. The tomb was said to be the burial site of two as of yet, unknown warriors, Jaris and Roth. It was said that they had fought to the death and after a week-long battle, none could outfight the other and the heat of their battle caused their bodies to fuse as one. Since they could not be seperated, they were entombed together. The scroll also mentioned that to release them from their prison would grant the one who had done so, great power, but not without a price. Karl had read such promises many times before and he knew their meaning; power usually meant gold. What really intrigued him, however, was that the location of the tomb was clearly depicted in the scroll, making it too easy to find. This, in itself, was odd. Why go through so much care in hiding the scrolls all these centuries and then give its exact location. Still, with the promise of a great find, he set out to be the one to find it. He gathered a crew and went in search of it. The tomb was said to be buried under a mountain near the Russia and China frontier. Karl and his crew somehow made it through with no incident, as though the tomb really wanted them to find it. Karl barely had to look at the map as he made his way through unknown territory. He felt as if something was guiding him. Finally, they reached it, but at first sight, the tomb seemed underwhelming. It was a simple sarcophagous surrounded by two red stone dragon. An inscription reiterated that opening the tomb would bring great power but at a price. As his men readied the tools to pry open the stone sarcophagous, Karl went to it and easily pushed off its cover. Two balls of energy came out of the coffin and entered the statues. The dragon statues came to life and bathed the room in fire. The room was a blazing inferno and all within died, all, except for Karl. The balls of light left the dragons and entered Karl's body. The warning had been legitimate. He could feel a power inside him and as he looked at the charred remains of his crew, wondered if this had been the price for that power or whether he had yet to pay for it. He could also feel a presence inside him and knew that he had become Juris. Somehow, in the end, Juris had won the battle against Roth, and he had longed to be released. Now, with Juris's power he felt he needed to use it for good. With the first world war starting in Europe, he enlisted and joined the allied forces. His courage and heroism made him one of the unsung heroes of that war. But as the war escalated, something changed inside him. He became more violent and less patient. He defied orders and took missions off course. Killing became his thrill. His sence of good and patriotism was vanishing and was being replaced by a lust for power and violence. And one day, the presence of Juris he had been feeling these past years was gone. A darker one was taking control. Roth. He now knew the truth. This was the price he was meant to pay. The power would consume his mind in the end. Karl looked for a way to suppress his powers, but as the days passed, his control over it was wanning. He could only think of one solution. He returned to the place where he had found the power and sealed himself inside the same sarcophagous. He hoped it would be the end of him, but it was not be so. Although he was asleep for years, the transformation that was happening to his mind continued. In 2015, archeologists discovered the mysterious coffin, and brought it to Montreal, home of the then new hero, The Hurricane. When they opened the sarcophagous, the man inside arose. It wasn't the hero Juris, nor the human Karl, for they had been gone for a long time. Instead Roth had risen. "Who are you?" one of the archaelogist asked before he was outright killed. As he made his way out of the museum, the recently risen said. "I am Roth, but you can call me Wrath for it is all I have left." Powers Power boost: Wrath has the ability can improve his physical abilities individually but not without consequences. As he increases one of his abilities another one decreases. His speed affects his strength. His strength affects his defense. His defence affects his speed. Super strength: He can improve his physical strength to the point that it enables him to lift 60 tons, and renders him capable of destroying pretty much any man made structure. Physical resistance: He can improve his body's defence giving it the same protection as if he was wearing a titanium armour. Enhanced vitals: He can improve his speed and stamina, making him able to run for long periods at speeds exceeding 30 mph. Energy Blast: He can accumulate all of the energy gained by his powers into a single energy blast. With maximum power it can create large explosions, and at minimum strength it does the same effect as most projectile weapons would. Weaknesses: Wrath cannot boost all his attributes at once. He can only boost one aspect at a time. When improving an ability to its peak for too long, Wrath starts to tire and if boosted past its limit, it can physically hurt him. Using his energy blast at maximum strength weakens him greatly and he has to take a long rest after. When he boosts a certain aspect, another is weakened. When his strength is increased is defence decreases. When his defence is increased his speed decreases. When his speed his increased his strength diminishes. |
